Official Language of Sri Lanka

Several languages are spoken in Sri Lanka but the first official language is the Sinhala. It is used by 75% of the national population, totaling to 13 million. The second official language is Tamil, which is used by 4.7 million of the national population. It was influenced by the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Since 1988, these languages have been designated by the Sri Lankan constitution for the legislation and administration. Some people from the country called Veddah use unofficial languages because of the influences of indigenous people.
